"What's A MINGA?"Welcome to the MINGA, your chance to demonstrate collaboration and problem solving skills within the CommTech classroom.
In a MINGA, the class is provided with a problem that must be solved within the period. With no teacher input, students are free to develop their own problem-solving strategies and leadership techniques. While MINGAs often relate to CommTech skills, such as cropping in Photoshop, students are not marked on their performance in a MINGA.. Only Work Habits are evaluated. Whether you win or lose, the point of the MINGA is to improve students' interpersonal skills and establish a CommTech community that lasts the rest of your CommTech career. |

Tip #1 - Get Organized
Keep a record. Establish roles for all students. Make a plan. Strategize. You don't want to redo anything at the last minute. |
Tip #2 - Know Your Team
Some people are better with certain programs. Some students like leading the class more than others. It's important to understand the skills of every student. |
Tip #3 - Work as a Team
In a MINGA, everyone does their part. That includes you! Respect your classmates, ask for help, and take initiative. Remember, you're only as strong as your slowest Quick Selection cropper! |
Tip #4 - Manage Your Time
Watch the clock during the MINGA. and set realistic time goals. It's easy to lose track of time. When you do fall behind, be prepared to modify your strategies. Flexibility is an important part of working together. |
Tip #5 - Be Creative
MINGAs are the place to develop that "out of the box" thinking. Why not use all the resources in the room, like the whiteboard and the projector? Pay careful attention to the instructions and come up with theinnovative solutions to the problem. |
Tip #6 - Maintain a Positive Attitude
During a MINGA, it's important to embrace challenges, celebrate accomplishments, and have fun. Don't obsess over mistakes. Learn from them! |
