Magazine Cover

"On The Cover of The Rolling Stone!"

A song from the 1970's once declared that in order to be famous, one would have to make the cover of a Rolling Stone magazine. With that in mind, it's time to get creative! For this assignment you will be asked to put your Photoshop skills to the test and create your very own magazine cover from scratch, just like the pros!

A good magazine will include a strong, complimentary mix of high quality images, impactful text, and thematic colours, all arranged in an effective layout.

Whether it is a recreation of an existing magazine or your own original creation, your cover should demonstrated your Photoshop skills and your understanding of proper magazine layout.

Tips to Get You Started

Tip #1 - Look Around

Both in the classroom and online, look for examples that inspire ideas, provide layout tips, and help as you plan your cover.
Tip #2 - Choose Wisely

Some magazine covers lend well to showing your Photoshop skills.  Others are too easy.  Be aware of your ability to show off your Photoshop skills as you plan your cover.
Tip #3 - Handle the Details

Whether its the date, a fake sticker, a page curl, even a bar code, plan to include those detailed elements that make your cover feel authentic.
Tip #4 - Seek Feedback

Whether its from the teacher or your peers, seek feedback for ways in which you might improve the quality of your work.
